I like my masks, I was there for 2005 Halloween and I have a hat to show it. If someone that just bought the game could buy the hat, they would just become junk to the older players.

I've missed out on hats I liked too but the hat itself isn't important. If anyone can get them they mean NOTHING. The fact that people have them shows that they've been supporting the game and were there as part of the community for those events.

The only reason the hats are cool is because you can't just get them. I mean at this point why not let people buy stuff in the CE boxes or hell why not lower the price on all elite armor so everyone can get it?

People take the hate towards "elitist" attitude too far. There needs to be a balance. Anyone can be an arrogant dick with that attitude and anyone can take the meaning out of everything by completely removing that attitude.

Accept that there are some things everyone can't have I know thats harder and harder for our generation to understand since we can get so much so easily but its true.

Edit: For the people who deleted their hats for space: I'm really sorry you had to do that or felt you had to. If theres a way for them to check that I'm totally up for you being able to make another one at the festival hat NPC but otherwise, no, I don't think everyone in the game should be able to make one of those prized badges just for the few who deleted their once a year hats while others sacrificed to keep them.

They need to make the next christmas hat a paper bag with a big red 'L' on it for loser. Then all the hat elitists here will have appropriate headwear (and you know they'll collect it).

They should just make all the themed hats for that holiday available at the next celebration. Like there's a way to get any of the past christmas hats at a christmas celebration or all the halloween hats at a halloween celebration. GW is already waning, no new material planned, so it's probably just going to be like one more round of these holiday festivals anyway.

Meh, IMO just make it so that there is a quest you have to do (perhaps of master difficulty), and then pay a fee to get a hat. However, this would only be available if your account existed during the time of the original event, and the quest would only become available during the next event.

I should have a Tengu hat but I don't. Why? Anet shipping issues or some crap like that delayed my copy of Factions. Same shipping issues happened with Nightfall. Same shipping issues happened with EotN. I think Anet doesn't really give much of a crap about what happens to Australia.

I've missed out on a few events that give you hats and such >_<
So that'd be really nice...maybe it could be 500-1k to craft a hat.

the various masks are to show what event you gone to and stuff, i really like my dragon mask and if people can buy one at any crafter, thats not fair for people like me who actually did all those quests and such...

You know, not being a fan of a crafter to devalue the mask for those who participated in the event, this idea is actually fairly decent idea...

Throw it at Masters, make a player pay 5-10k for a Mask and materials (lot of materials too) and the player gets what she/he wants and becomes a bit of a gold sink too...

Default sure but make it difficult to do

if and only if you have to go thou what you need to do for the Mini Moa - have all 4 chapters / expansions use lots of in-game $, crafting materials, collectors items, and go to hard to reach places on the map(s).

edit: one more thing the festival hat collector would not be able to make copies...

What they can do, which I suggest they do, is at some point of time make all the hats available to everyone in some way. I don't mean just type /hats and surprise, you have all the hats. I mean in some way thru quests or a price in gold or something. But available in some way.

That point of time shouldn't be now. It should be right before GW2 comes out as a final hurrah for GW1(keeping the servers open for GW1 of course for as long as there are gamers). That way those who had the "I've been there" thing still have had it for a while. But then the focus will be on GW2. It's Anet's choice of course and I know choosing to do this will make people happy and will probably boost even more sales in GW1, even with GW2 out.

As for the Divine Aura, they can at least make a Consumable that gives this to people temporarily.
I don't think you understand the concept of having the first masks and divine aura. Anet is not going to make a consumable or anything that copies the divine aura effect, it's for those special few players that bought the original GW CE. And what makes you want the aura and earlier hats? Because other people have them? So what. Re-read Gaile's post and realise that there's a slim chance the hats will be craftable, but the divine aura (lol) gl with that.

It's not elitist, because these are just goofy souvenirs. I'm missing most of them myself.

Why? Why should people get older hats because they want them? It was a reward for having guild wars from the beginning. It will make orginal yulecaps and such useless to us veteran users.

-Buying festival hats would defeat the purpose of being at the holiday event would'nt it?

I missed out on the first Halloween and I really like that pumkin head better than the next one they gave us. But I am not crying about it. I missed out and thats my tough luck. Since then I have made it a point to get every single hat that has came out. Ya, it DOES make me feel special. What about it?

You didn't make it to the event? Tough luck.

Oh? Are they useful now? I always thought they were strictly for aesthetics. What do you use them for?

I don't see why anyone would care anyways, since they are virtually useless outside of an outpost

I have the tengu mask, the original 2005 pupkin crown and yule cap. This kind of stuff is why it's been cool to play GW from the beggining. Newer players shouldn't get that stuff just like "that".

I know it's unpopular and won't be put into effect, but IMO? /signed.

I think it'd be a good goldsink, plus I'd really like to have some of the hats I missed because I've only been playing for just over a year. I realize there's elitism attached to Tengu masks and such, but I wish there was a way for me to get the pumpkin and witch hats. I had the game, but storms/downed power lines kept me off the internet for 48 hours around Halloween and I missed the event. Damned shame. I'd pay plenty in gold and rare crafting materials to get at some of them.
